GREELEY, Colo. – The Colorado Buffaloes opened up their West Conference campaign with a convincing 42-20 win over the Northern Colorado Bears in Greeley. Meanwhile, Wyoming traveled to Central Washington and sustained a 60-0 blanking in a non-conference friendly.
It’s early days in the West, but CU and Northern Colorado are the early favorites. With CU’s win, it looks like it may be the Buffaloes’ conference to lose.
The top two seeds go on to the playoffs in the West, but seeding is crucial. The #1 seed from the West plays the winner of Cal Poly (California #2) and Central Washington (Independent). The #2 seed from the west plays the #1 seed from California, which is St. Mary’s. Not many would want that draw.
West play rolls along next week with Colorado traveling to Central Washington in a friendly and Colorado State travels to New Mexico.
