Canterbury D1A Top 20 Rankings: Week 1

D1A Rugby: Canterbury D1A Top 20 Rankings: Week 1

The 2014-15 D1A Rugby season officially begins this Saturday when Buffalo visits Kutztown in Rugby East action. With that, the initial Canterbury Top 20 poll has been completed, and will continue to be done each week of the D1A season.

D1A Rugby’s Top 20 is determined by an average ranking based on the weekly votes registered by D1A’s voting committee which includes the following:

  • The commissioners from each of D1A’s six conferences.
  • D1A Commissioner, Kevin Battle.
  • USA Rugby’s Collegiate Director, Rich Cortez.
  • Three rugby writers: Alex Goff, Curtis Reed and Alex Solomon.

To no one’s surprise, 2014 National Champion Saint Mary’s opens the poll as the No. 1-ranked team in the country. Behind the Gaels is 14’ runner-up Life at No. 2, and fellow Mid-South powers Lindenwood and Davenport stand at No. 3 and No. 6, respectively.

Few collegiate matches have been played this fall, and teams are sure to drop from the Top 20 in place for those who currently sit outside of the rankings.
