Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 19

D1A Rugby: Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 19

BOULDER, Colo. – Saint Mary’s wasn’t able to overcome the juggernaut that is BYU, but the Gaels one-point loss to the Cougars keeps them ahead of Life University.

Changes near the very top of the Canterbury D1A Top 20 could be coming shortly, though. The Mid-South Conference season opens this weekend when the Running Eagles host No. 3-ranked Lindenwood. A win by the Lions will surely see them move ahead of Life, but a convincing victory by the home team might propel the Running Eagles into the No. 1 spot.

Utah stayed perfect in PAC Rugby play by having its way with D1A Independent Oregon State, 72-13. The win, although impressive, keeps the Utes holding strong to its No. 5 ranking. The team just ahead of them, Indiana, tied Furman University in a scrimmage, but the Hoosiers A-side did their part. Before rolling out 28 reserves, the Big Ten Universities Champions’ A-side outmatching the Division II program, 41-17.

The only change seen in this week’s rankings is the continuous surge of LSU. The Tigers most recent win, a 43-12 defeat of previously undefeated Oklahoma, bumps LSU up two more spots to No. 14. The Tigers’ gain drops Arizona and Army to No. 15 and No. 16, respectfully.
