Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 24

D1A Rugby: Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 24

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – Spring break created a bit of a void in the spring college rugby schedule and, as a result, there were few changes to this week’s Canterbury D1A Top 20. While some teams used the week off from classes to rest hampered bodies, other clubs, like Saint Mary’s and Santa Clara, spent the break abroad on rugby tours.

One team that continues to stay busy stateside is Army. A week after splitting road games against BYU and Utah, West Point picked up its biggest win of the season – a 27-22 victory over military academy rival Navy. The five-point win over a very tough Midshipmen team pushed the Black Knights ahead one spot to No. 10.

The California and Mid-South conferences may have been idle, but the Red River remained busy. Oklahoma, coming off its own tour of Jamaica, scored two late tries to stave off Texas. Meanwhile, Texas A&M continued to impress by handling Texas Tech with ease, 57-8. The Sooners’ narrow win keeps them at No. 20, while the Aggies’ third consecutive win by at least 24 points has them knocking on the door of the Top 20.
