Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 6

D1A Rugby: Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 6

BOULDER, Colo. – A weekend marred with ranked teams winning in blowout fashion over unranked teams didn’t equate to much movement in this week’s Canterbury D1A Top 20.

Ohio State’s latest win, a 62-point handling of Michigan State, propelled the Buckeyes to No. 15 – up two spots from last week’s rankings. Ohio State’s third consecutive victory pushed both San Diego State (No. 16) and Colorado (No. 17) back a spot.

Last week, Iona made its first-ever appearance in Canterbury’s rankings. The Gaels inclusion forced Michigan to drop from the Top 20. This week, Michigan took care of Minnesota 59-5, propelling the Wolverines back into the Top 20 at Iona’s expense. The Gaels narrowly missed out cracking the list for the second consecutive week after falling to No. 7 Kutztown 33-24.

With several matches between Top 20 teams this weekend, including two each out of Rugby East and the West, as well as a nonconference showdown between No. 5 Davenport and No. 8 Indiana, next week’s list of top teams should see far more movement than this week’s.
