Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 7

D1A Rugby: Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 7

BOULDER, Colo. – Indiana makes the biggest jump in this week’s Canterbury D1A Top 20. Following its win over Michigan, the only undefeated team from the Big Ten Universities Conference goes from No. 16 to No. 12 in the rankings.

Penn State’s narrow loss to No. 3 Kutztown was enough to push the Nittany Lions ahead of Army – who they fell to earlier in the season. West Point will have an opportunity to leapfrog both Penn State and Kutztown when the Cadets face the Golden Bears Oct. 25.

Finding itself in the top 10 for the first time this season is Colorado State at No. 10. The Rams sole loss of the season came at the hands of No. 7 Air Force, and they have one final chance to improve their record this fall when they visit New Mexico Oct. 25. After this weekend, the competition in the West Conference will be put to rest until the teams out of the Eastern Rockies pick up league play in February.

In what may be a surprise to some, Oklahoma’s climb towards the top 10 went in reverse this week. The Sooners slip from No. 11 to No. 15 even after a 47-17 win against Texas Tech last weekend. An explanation for the drop could be in part due to Texas’ recent loss to St. Edwards. Oklahoma’s win over the Longhorns had figured to be one of their more impressive results of the season.
