Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 9

D1A Rugby: Canterbury D1A Top 20: Week 9

BOULDER, Colo. – The USA Eagles match against the New Zealand All Blacks kept many conferences away from the pitch this past Saturday, to ensure rugby fans could be in front of a television to watch the best team in the world play our Eagles on American soil.

With that, there were only two Rugby East Conference matches that took place to go along with three nonconference games from across the country. The limited action resulted in one minor movement in the Canterbury D1A Top 20. Indiana’s 45-34 win over Notre Dame moved the Hoosiers ahead of Cal Poly and to the No. 9 spot in the rankings.

Going forward, it will be tough for the three West Conference teams in the Top 20 to make any moves towards the top as the portion of their fall season has concluded. Although they dropped a close match to Army Oct. 31, the Zoomies have to be pleased with their fall. The cadets from Colorado Springs, Colo., went a perfect 4-0 in the West and added a win over rival Navy to their résumé.

This weekend, a nonconference match between top-10 teams should be a factor in next week’s rankings. No. 6 Lindenwood wraps up a challenging nonconference slate of matches with a visit to State College, Pa., to take on No. 5 Penn State.
