BOULDER, Colo. – While it is too early in the season for any Division 1A teams to make travels arrangements to Northern California, USA Rugby is pleased to confirm that the D1A National Championship will be played at Stanford University’s Steuber Rugby Stadium on May 10.

Along with the D1A National Championship, Women’s Division I, Women’s Division II and Men’s Division I-AA will play their semifinals and finals at Stanford from May 9-11. The combination of fourteen of college rugby’s best teams competing for four national championships and the immaculate setting of Steuber Rugby Stadium should make for terrific weekend of college rugby.

USA Rugby’s Men’s Division I National Champion was crowned at Stanford from 2003-2010. Since the 2010 Championship, the elite men’s college title game has been played in Sandy, UT (2011-2012) and Greensboro, NC (2013).

Although the University of North Carolina – Greensboro provided a terrific environment for rugby last year, USA Rugby’s Collegiate Directory Rich Cortez is excited to be heading back to Stanford for this year’s final.

“The D1A Championship has joined the field to enhance the finest USA College Championship event this spring,” said Cortez. “To have the D1A, Men’s D1AA, and Women’s DI and DII championships all under the setting of one of the best venues in American for rugby in the Steuber Family Rugby Stadium and the Doyle Family Rugby Clubhouse at Stanford University will be incredible. A huge crowd is expected for the Championships and we couldn’t be more thrilled.”

Playoff matches, hosted by the teams with the highest seeds, in the weeks leading up the finals will determine who makes the D1A National Championship.
