D1A Rugby: D1A Featured heavily in Men’s Junior All-Americans World Rugby Trophy Qualifier Squad
Lafayette, Co.- USA Rugby released their 26 man roster  for the upcoming Junior All-Americans (U20)  qualifiers in Houston against Canada this month. The squad was whittled down from 50 after thorough examinations and evaluations by the USA Rugby coaching staff from that nine players  representing seven different schools from D1A have been selected. Players from Arizona, Cal Poly, Central Washington, Iona, Life, Lindenwood, Saint Bonaventure, and Saint Mary’s. These players will participate in a two game series, where the team with the highest combined score will advance to the main tournament that is being hosted in Romania in August this year. 

The players selected were: 
Buckley, Connor- Iona
Johnson, Justin- Life
Lialio, Payton- Saint Mary’s
Madden, Partick- Cal Poly 
Mascolo, Santiago- Iona College
MeLeish, Stephen- Lindenwood
Murphy, Ronan- Saint Mary’s 
Teles, Bronson- Arizona
Wendling, John- Central Washington 
Wiles, Jack – St. Bonaventure

Beginning on August 24th and running through until September 10, this will be the 11th installment of the World Rugby Trophy.  It will host eight national under-20 teams  for over  two weeks of  competition. The United States will be competing for the final spot in the tournament as seven of the eight spits have already been filled. If the United States are successful in their attempt to beat Canada it will be the first time since 2016 that they have qualified for the event.
