BOULDER, Colo. – Texas Christian University will feel more confident heading into its Jan. 30 visit to LSU after its 38-12 win over Louisiana Tech. The Horned Frogs received several solid performances the day, but it was prop Ke’Arrius Brunson who led from the font to be named D1A Player of the Week.
Brunson was his usual dominant force around the rucks, but also scampered for a few long runs, scored a try and set up several more.
“Brunson did a tremendous job with go-forward ball and breaking the gain line against a very scrappy Louisiana Tech defense.” TCU Head Coach TeShay Flowers had to say of his frontrower’s effort last weekend.
There is no question that the junior from Desoto, Tex. is a difference maker for the Horned Frogs when he is on the pitch. Quite a large man, Brunson isn’t quite ready to play a full 80 minutes, but is making strides to stay on the pitch longer to help his squad.
“It was important for Brunson to give us more minutes,” Flowers explained. “He worked very hard to improve his conditioning during the break and gave us a very strong 60 minutes this past weekend, and is improving his stamina with each training session.”
Brunson, a Political Science major, will be a crucial part of TCU’s pursuit of respectability in the Red River Conference this season.
