D1A Rugby Top 20 – Week 6

D1A Rugby: D1A Rugby Top 20 – Week 6

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – Three top-10 teams were on the losing side of intriguing matchups this past weekend, creating the biggest shakeup in the D1A Rugby Top 20 so far this season.

The most surprising result came out of Rugby East when previously unranked Wheeling Jesuit recorded a huge win over Kutztown. The hallmark win thrusts the Cardinals to No. 16 in this weeks rankings, while the Golden Bears drop six places to No. 13.

Colorado State made a notable move in the Week 6 rankings. The Rams continued its strong season by traveling to the Air Force Academy and beating its longtime West Conference foe, 30-26. It’s second win over a Top 20 team jumps Colorado State from No. 17 to No. 12. The Zoomies, who have notched wins over Navy and Utah this season, fall just one spot to No. 10.

Ohio State improved to 3-0 in the Big Ten with a 59-0 shutout of Illinois, but still fell out of the Top 20 to make room for a surging Wheeling Jesuit team. The Buckeyes currently sit just outside of the rankings at No. 21 and are followed by Colorado, LSU and Oklahoma.
