D1A Rugby: D1A Rugby Top 20 – Week 7

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – Wisconsin’s big win over previously unbeaten Ohio State moves the Badgers up three spots to No. 16 in the seventh week of the D1A Rugby Top 20 rankings. The Buckeyes were ranked just outside the Top 20 at No. 21 heading into its showdown with Wisconsin, and remain one spot outside of the rankings after falling by just four points on the road.

Utah moved up one spot after defeating Colorado, 32-5 in Salt Lake City. The Utes had be ranked in the top-half of the Top 20 before suffering defeats to Air Force and Colorado State.

There were also some positive results for highly ranked D1A teams that don’t factor into the Top 20 but display teams’ solid form, regardless. Cal beat Saint Mary’s in the Cup Final of the Central Coast leg of the West Coast Sevens. The second and final leg of the West Coast Sevens will take place on Treasure Island in San Francisco Oct. 22-23, and will include Top 20 teams Air Force, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Cal Poly, Saint Mary’s, San Diego State, UCLA and Utah, as well as California Conference’s Santa Clara and UC Santa Barbara. This weekend’s West Coast Sevens will air live on The Rugby Channel.

Elsewhere, Lindenwood University followed up its win at the Uni 7s event in Colorado and third-place finish at the Global Uni 7s event with a first-place finish at the USA Touch National Championships in Orlando.
