D1A Top 20 – Week 4

D1A Rugby: D1A Top 20 – Week 4

LAFAYETTE, Colo. – D1A Rugby’s fourth week of action created a trembling effect within the top-half of this week’s Top 20, while two teams return to the poll in near the bottom of the rankings.

Ohio State victoriously emerged from its first Big Ten contest of the season, and was rewarded for a spot at the backend of the Week 4 Top 20 after just barely missing the cut in last week’s rankings. The 52-12 win over Purdue has the Buckeyes back into the Top 20 ahead of Wheeling Jesuit, which picked up a nice victory over Iona, 44-19. Ohio State’s reemergence into the rankings gives the Big Ten Conference three sides in the Top 20 for the first time this season.

Last year’s Red River Champions, LSU, also falls just outside the Top 20. The Tigers departure from the rankings is thanks to the big win Colorado State picked up on the road against Utah. The Rams took care of the Utes, 36-20, and are now ranked No. 17. Utah, on the other hand, was ranked seventh just two weeks ago, but has fallen to No. 14 after back-to-back losses to Air Force and Colorado State.
