Two Mid-South conference matches will mark the start of the 2012 USA Rugby Men’s Division 1A season.

2011 semifinalists Arkansas State plays host to emerging Mid South power, Texas A&M on February 18. Arkansas State missed out on the 2011 Championship game in 2011 after a very strong start in the semifinal against BYU. A core of players are returning for the Red Wolves, and have to be one of the favorites to win the Mid-South in 2012. Danie Swanepoel is emerging as an elite back in D1A and is surrounded by highly intelligent players like Zac Mizell and Pat Sullivan.

Life University, who recently won the 2011 USA Rugby Men’s College Sevens National Championship, showed that they have the speed and skill to strike in the open field. Speedster Darrian Woodson has shown signs of real promise for the Running Eagles and will add to an already potent back line including standouts Colton Cariaga and Kyle Grossheider.
