Preseason Canterbury D1A Top 20

D1A Rugby: Preseason Canterbury D1A Top 20

BOULDER, Colo. – The preseason Canterbury D1A Top 20 has been released ahead of Sept. 12’s Rugby East kickoff. To little surprise, 2015 National Champions Saint Mary’s begin the season atop of the poll. The Gaels are followed by D1A runner-up Life University.

Semifinalists from last year’s playoffs, Lindenwood and Davenport, sit behind the Championship finalist from the past three seasons, and 2014 Rugby East Champions, Army, round out the top five.

The new addition to the West Conference, Utah, is the highest of four ranked Rocky Mountain teams to check-in on Canterbury’s rankings at No. 6. Indiana appears to be the favorites out of the Big Ten, leading the way for the conference at No. 12. In the Red River, LSU joins the list at No. 20.

Teams that sit just beyond the Top 20 and appear to be a quality win away from cracking the rankings include Iona, Iowa, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

With little on-field results to show for this fall, expect dramatic shifts by month’s end as the Big Ten, Rugby East and West all dive into conference play in September.
