LAFAYETTE, Colo. – LSU is an April 2-win away from going undefeated in its first season in the Red River Conference. The Tigers have compiled their 5-0 record by playing team rugby. While LSU may not have a bona fide superstar, tight head prop Christian Brower has done more than enough to be named March’s Red River Player of the Month.
Brower picked up rugby in college after a decorated career as a high school wrestler. Now a senior, Brower is captaining LSU this season.
“As a captain he is a great leader,” complimented LSU Head Coach Scott McLean. “Although Christian is somewhat quiet, when he speaks the other players listen.”
In five conference matches, Brower has scored a try in each except one – including a double in the team’s 91-5 win over Texas Tech.
“He is very formidable in the scrummage, he is a great runner of the ball, and very hard to tackle,” McLean added.
Following graduation, Brower plans to attend law school.
