The 2017/18 D1A regular season is heading into the twilight hours, and with only two weeks left to play, everything is still up for grabs. This weekend features four top twenty match ups, two of which will have a direct impact on the layout of the playoff bracket.

#6 Army will host #7 Penn State in what will be the biggest game of the weekend. These two conference rivals usually face off against each other in the fall, but in preparation for the playoffs they are having a grudge match in the spring. Their meeting in the fall ultimately determined who won the Rugby East title, and it was Penn State who scored the late try to walk away with the one point win. Army will be looking to have the last laugh this weekend and secure their spot in the rankings above Penn State.

Arkansas State will travel up to Indiana this weekend with hopes of finishing their spring season on a high. The spring season has not gone as either team would have hoped. For Arkansas State they were swept by both Life and Lindenwood, and as a result will want to prove that they can hang with ranked opponents. In the case of Indiana they are coming off an upset at the hands of #10 Notre Dame College, who sent Indiana hurtling out of the Top 10 for the first time all year. With a statement win here either team could find themselves back in the Top 10.

In another ranked encounter #19 Utah Valley will take on #18 Central Washington. These two played just a few weeks ago, with Utah Valley coming out on top, 40-24. That weekend was a rather bleak weekend for CWU, as two back to back losses saw them drop from 12th in the country to 18th and are now on the outside looking in at the playoffs. If Central Washington can put in an impressive shift and parlay that with another strong performance next weekend against BYU, they may be able to just sneak into the playoffs.

Conference play this weekend is pretty quiet, with the Red River Championship match up already decided Baylor will take on Arkansas as final preparations before their meeting with Texas A&M next weekend. Last weekend Life wrapped up the Mid South, and so are now looking to consolidate their second place ranking against the winless Clemson tigers. #5 Lindenwood will take on Davenport, and look to secure their ranking before the playoffs begin.

Out of conference matchups will see Utah taking on BYU. This in state rivalry game will be the last game of the season for Utah against a ranked opponent. Next week they will face Arizona State, and BYU will face Central Washington. In the final game of the weekend Arizona State will take on New Mexico.
