NORMAN, Okla. – Four teams are within six points of one another in the standings, making for an exciting close to conference play with only two more weeks remaining.
This weekend Oklahoma blanked a raw Texas Tech team 28-0 in Lubbock and Sam Houston State snuck by Baylor 39-34 in Hunstville. The Texas A&M Aggies further proved their form against Texas, beating the Longhorns 44-17 in the rivalry game in Austin.
OU leads the conference with 16 points and A&M is clipping at their heels with 15. The two will sort the things out the old-fashioned way on March 30, the last weekend of Allied Conference play this season. Mark your calendars.
Texas Tech is still very much in the mix though with 12 points and could do themselves a huge favor by beating A&M on March 23 when the Red Raiders go into College Station.
Texas and Tech have 10 and 12 points respectively, but Texas is poised to surge in the standings having only played three games while most others in the conference have played four. Their schedule was tougher earlier too, so they have the opportunity to claim some bonus points and control what they can control and hope and pray that A&M stumble down the stretch.
