Delaware 40 – Ohio State 13
Delaware finished their season on a high note with a big 40-13 win over Ohio State at home. Ohio State found themselves in a 14-0 hole just 17 minutes into the game and was unable to ever make the score competitive. Delaware fullback, Christopher Mattina, had an outstanding finale scoring 18 points on two tries and four conversions; four other Delaware players touched down a try in the match also. Kyle Harmon led Ohio State with his two tries to go along with Gareth Willath’s penalty kick. Delaware finished their season in fifth place in the Rugby East conference at 2-4 and Ohio State finished just behind them in sixth place at 1-5.
Colorado State 29 – Arizona 47
Arizona jumped to an early lead and never looked back at Colorado State to defeat the Rams 47-29 in the final match of the 2012 season for both teams. The Wildcats scored a try just four minutes into the game and were able to add a penalty to take a 10-0 lead in just nine minutes. Trent Fischer led Arizona with 12 points on three conversions and two penalties. Fischer was accompanied in scoring by the two wingers, Nicholas Sarris and Jake Haebe, who each scored two tries. Colorado State was led in scoring by Jackson Connoly who scored nine points on three conversions and a penalty kick. Colorado State finished the season in last place in the Western Conference at 0-7 while Arizona finished in fifth place at 3-4.
Wyoming 31 – Air Force 41
Air Force defeated Wyoming in an exciting back-and-forth match to end the season. Wyoming actually jumped out to an early lead in minute 6 when Craig Hossfeld scored his first of three tries on the afternoon. Air Force responded with a try and conversion of their own to tie the score up after 10 minutes. The score stood tied at 12-12 in minute 20 until Air Force touched down two tries in the next three minutes to take a 22-12 lead. Another converted Hossfeld try before half put the score at 22-19 heading into the break. After the restart Air Force wasted no time as they scored in minute 43 and took a 10-point lead. However, Wyoming proved they were not ready for their season to end as they quickly answered in minute 47 with a converted try of their own. The 29-26 score was the closest it would get as Air Force scored two tries, converting one of them by minute 62. After a late yellow card to Air Force scrumhalf Michael Fleming, Wyoming scored a try to finish the match at 31-41. Air Force finished the season in third place in the Western Conference at 5-2 and Wyoming finished in sixth at 2-5.
