Plenty of exciting matchups commence this Week 4 across the D1A landscape, but more importantly conference crowns are heating up for contesting, ranked and On The Bubble clubs. The Rocky Mountain conference is sure to include many of these high powered offenses and stellar defenses, along with a mix of bad blood between these close-quartered universities.

Rocky Mountain

Colorado (1-0) is coming off their steaming hot victory against New Mexico, and will be traveling to Provo, UT and will take on the ever-dangerous and powerful #10 BYU (0-0). Colorado has a very tough side led by Head Coach & USA Eagle Manager, Chris Hanson. Although the ‘Buffs’ have momentum heading into this titanic clash, BYU has plenty of fundamentals to keep themselves as favorites. BYU hasn’t moved much in the rankings, but they better aim to keep their spot with this hungry Buffalo side in herd formation, ready to trample over the Cougars hopes.

Up next on the Rocky Mountain docket is #22 Colorado State (1-0) traveling on the road to conference rival, and On The Bubble hopeful, Utah State (1-0). This is a very compelling matchup because both teams are coming off a bye week and are certainly ready to strap the boots back on for this tough game on the horizon. Also within the RMC, Wyoming (0-1) takes on New Mexico (0-2) at home in a matchup which both clubs need a win to gain momentum moving forward in the fall season.

Within the Mid-South conference, the only and big game within is #5 Navy (3-0) taking on #17 Davenport (0-0). The DU Panthers are clocking-in their time card for official D1A play, and they will gladly take this first stellar conference matchup against the hottest active team in the nation, Navy. With the [Davenport] boys back in town, the Midshipmen will be looking to land-lock the Panther’s attacking schemes and anchor their defense to another hard fought victory. Even though Navy is the higher ranked team in the battle, many outdoors hunters will tell you; Never sleep on a Panther, because you won’t wake up. Keep your eye on this exciting Mid-South matchup, with fireworks bound to pop.

As the jam-packed Liberty conference is in full-swing, the biggest matchups to pay attention to are: #19 Iona (1-2) at Fordham (2-0), Buffalo (2-0) at Syracuse (2-0), and Fairfield (1-1) at Northeastern (1-0). Iona will traveling, albeit not too far within the state, to the Bronx and face-off against the streaking Fordham club, that will have home-field advantage. Iona will be looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats, to very tough opponents, but will have their hands full with this undefeated club in Fordham. Another battle of the undefeated includes unranked clubs, Buffalo at Syracuse, which will be a hotly contested matchup of a Liberty conference that is beginning to take consistent form. Wrapping up the notable matchups of Liberty are Fairfield traveling to Boston and taking on the Northeastern side that has good momentum from their past two weeks of improving play.

The lone East matchup this week is #12 St. Bonaventure taking on unranked cross-conference foe, American International College (AIC). The Bonnies have been playing consistently and have been praised by many other East coaches and players as a side with tons of potential. AIC is coming off a dominant win against Rutgers, 39-0, in which they will attempt in curtailing that momentum into this weekend’s tough match.

Big Ten

Other than Battle for the Mitten, Wisconsin will be facing a tough Minnesota team on the road in Minneapolis, MN. Wisconsin is riding a high after beating Michigan State in a closely contested matchup the previous weekend. The Badgers are a sneaky Big Ten club, but the Gophers have also proven themselves early as a formidable opponent. Minnesota will be looking rebound from their loss to Michigan, but have been holding their heads high since, as their Head Coach Sean “Snacks” Lindersmith is as resilient as they come.
